Our Star 102.5 studio computer...

Ever wonder how we put together all the things you hear on-air? We sure don't play things off CD anymore - haven't for a long time (unless something disastrous happens to our on-air computer).

At Star 102.5, we use a computer program called Dalet. I thought I'd give you a little look at it with a screenprint from earlier tonight...

Sorry about the blurry picture. It's the best I could do with the screenprint. And I probably shouldn't be posting a super clear picture of our on-air computer anyways - that could be bad.

So, everything we need is in the folders you see in the middle. If I want a jingle between the songs, I'll go to that folder and drag it to the left into the playlist. Or maybe I want to swap songs out for requests (which I do all the time during the Retro Show) - same for that, I'd just find the song and bring it to the left.

The carts at the bottom left are for extra things we play like sound effects (Brian uses them during the Mindbender), music beds that we talk over, or audio clips.

There's also a mixer feature (opened up on the bottom right) that allows us to mix different elements together so that a song doesn't completely end before the next one begins.

It's a cool program. There's obviously a lot more to it, as I spend quite a bit of my shift working with the program and preparing our stations for the next day.

Just thought I'd let you see one of the things that helps bring Star 102.5 to you everyday...
