April 13, 2029 - The end?

Apophis is a nice little asteroid the size of a 25-story building that may be stopping by to visit us.

Or it may just pass by - a very close pass by. As of now, it looks like its trajectory will take it closer than some orbiting communication satellites. That's like a cosmic version of a drive-through window when you think about it.

A Discovery.com article reports the chances are 1 in 45,000 that it will hit Earth. If it doesn't, it'll get a second chance in 2036 when it comes near again.
