El DeBarge had massive success throughout the 80's with the group DeBarge. But then he took the advice of the group's record label and left DeBarge to go solo.
That might have been a mistake as he only managed to make it to the top 10 on the mainstream charts one last time with this song from the movie Short Circuit.
