The game itself isn't bad, but even before the hour was up I'd already grown bored with the concept.
The funniest part - the audience's reactions. They were not happy to be there. I'm guessing this episode took forever to tape which would cause that reaction. Plus they were probably wondering what would happen if an earthquake hit while they were up there.
As for all the falling stuff, I think that was actually a distraction from the game. Which is too bad since that's what the whole show is based on.
I do like that the contestants get to keep shouting out answers until they get the right one - that was different. The host and the first two contestants were good too.
And one other good thing about Downfall - they didn't use the horrible ABC voiceover guy that was in the promos leading up to it. I don't know where ABC found that guy, but he's the worst. Maybe they realize that too, since this is the only show I've heard him do a promo for so far.
Overall, an okay show but it's already getting old. ABC never should have cancelled I Survived A Japanese Game Show - in the long run, that was a far better companion to Wipeout than this.
As for the ratings, they weren't that great. It was about even with what I Survived A Japanese Game Show did. But I'm guessing now that the curiosity factor is over, the ratings will plummet next week.
