It seems a little wrong. But she's the one who said it all on an answering machine. She had to realize this would eventually happen!
17 minutes worth of answering machine messages that Madonna left for an ex-boyfriend is up for grabs in the Gotta Have Rock and Roll celebrity auction. The starting bid for the messages - $25,000.
Other items in the auction include a few other Madonna items, an original Bruce Springsteen Born In The USA outtake photograph, three outfits worn by Eminem, a ton of Beatles stuff, and a bunch of other cool rock and roll memorabilia.
Get the money ready and visit quick - the auction ends Wednesday, August 5th!
The prize this week for Retro Trivia is tickets to see Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince.
Everyday, the question will be about a retro TV show that had wizards or witches in them.
Here's the five TV shows the questions will be about this week (no need to actually watch the videos unless you want to see classic & brilliant TV shows)...
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was gigantic in the 90's. But do you remember some of these similar shows that weren't as successful?
And yes, I actually liked some of them. I might possibly be one of only a very few people on the planet that made it through five or so episodes of USA Network's Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills (there's no way anyone anywhere could have sat through all 40 episodes).
Retro Trivia was kind of easy tonight. It was a question about SpongeBob's grumpy neighbor (the answer being Squidward Tentacles).
I switched it to an easy question because I was worried no one would ever get the original question about a really obscure ABC sitcom. The original question went like this...
In 1996, ABC passed on 3rd Rock From The Sun (a series they had originally developed) and instead went with this sitcom about aliens.
The answer: Aliens In The Family.
Big mistake for ABC there: 3rd Rock lasted 139 episodes while Aliens In The Family only ended up with 8 episodes. It was a fun show though.
So would you have gotten it right?
And do you even remember the show at all? If not, here's the first episode...
90's rock band Extreme and 80's drumming goddess Sheila E. teamed up a few days ago and performed the Michael Jackson classic Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'.
Jericho was a great show. But I think this might be even better.
A reality show about life after a disaster begins tonight at 10pm on the Discovery Channel.
It's called The Colony and features ten strangers thrown together for ten weeks with no electricity, no running water, and no communication with the outside world. The producers try their best to simulate what it would be like to survive in a world that just suffered a viral outbreak.
Check out the promo for the show, read more about it at Reality Blurred, and then get set to see the colonists survive (or not) tonight at 10pm on the Discovery Channel.
Her latest album Startin' Over was finally set to come out this summer (after being delayed quite a few years). The first single was going to be "Love, Honor, and Obey". But after her brother Michael's death, she changed the first single to "Home" (the lyrics do fit in a way).
Or even better, check out one of her biggest hits from the 80's! I remember buying the 12" single (the Special 12" Club Version to be exact) for this back in 1984...
And this is totally legal and there's no strings attached. I always test these things out before posting them here.
Remember the group Vertical Horizon? They had a few incredible hits about ten years ago (Everything You Want, You're A God, and Best I Ever Had). Well, they're back and they've got a new song called Save Me From Myself which you can hear on Star 102.5.
And the band has made it so you can download their new song FREE from their website!
Just go to their official website, type in your e-mail and zip code, and they'll e-mail you the link for the free song. That's it.
Once you download it, you'll have to extract the file. If you already know how to do that, you're set. If not, download a program that can extract files (I use a free program called 7-Zip that's easy to download and install and has come in handy on quite a few occasions like this).
Here's Matt Scannell of Vertical Horizon and Richard Marx performing the song a few weeks ago. The sound quality isn't that great, but it proves he can definitely perform the song live and acoustic!
This week I'm filling in for Rob Lucas on the morning show. And the week got off to a great start when Michael Tolcher called in!
He was up at Niagara Falls, NY performing at the Hard Rock At The Falls concert Saturday night. After the concert, I got to talk with him and he offered to call Monday morning to talk about the show and his upcoming projects.
I was psyched, seeing as how his song Speed Feels Better is my favorite song right now. The video features a bunch of sports superstars including Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard, football star Barry Sanders, Olympic figure skater Kimmie Meissner, baseball star Rick Ankiel, and tennis star Andy Roddick. See it here...
You can get Michael's new EP "In The Meantime" on iTunes and from his website.
And hear Michael's call-in to this morning's Star 102.5 morning show here.
Sugar Ray showed that after going six years without an album, they've still got it. I didn't realize that when you go to see Sugar Ray perform, it's not just a concert - it's a performance. They totally owned the stage. That was a fun show!
It's now obvious that Parachute is on the verge of taking off and becoming a band that could end up being as big as Sugar Ray. I get calls asking about their music every time I play "She Is Love".
Michael Tolcher did his entire performance solo and proved how great of a singer he is (especially when he turned some rap songs into pop songs). Listen to Star 102.5 tomorrow morning for more on Michael - we might hear from him during the morning show.
The Innocent Bystanders opened the show up. Unlike a lot of other WNY bands, they're not just a cover band. A lot of their originals were really good and they fit in perfect with the other groups last night.
And as usual for a Star concert, there was tons of chances to go up and meet a lot of the performers (even if you didn't win the VIP tickets).
My mind just can't wrap itself around this one. Dreamworks is creating a movie based on the old View-Master toy. How that's going to end up as a movie is beyond me.
But then here's something even crazier - Universal Pictures is going to turn Asteroids (one of the most basic arcade games ever) into a series of movies!
Knowing that, it really wouldn't surprise me to learn that the Minesweeper game is being made into a movie...
But it isn't really. It's just a parody video that mocks the video game movie genre.
Thanks to Shawn for e-mailing me the link to this brilliance.
Have you heard the new Geico commercials that feature clips of a remake of Somebody's Watching Me?
I just heard a new commercial from them the other day that had the song playing throughout the entire 30-second commercial instead of just a short clip. So I figured there must be a full version out there somewhere. And sure enough, there is!
Thanks to Geico, you can download the full 3:06 version by Mysto & Pizzi right from the Geico website. And it's FREE!
